Alterations in Viewpoint

I was hit by a car a couple of months ago. I'm fine. Just a couple of skinned knees. The bike, however, was totaled. The experience changed the way I look at many things. The first being words and time.
Words
Words. Why am I keeping them to myself? When the end comes all that will be remembered is the impact we've had on the lives that intersect ours and the words that we leave behind. While I seriously doubt that my words will change the world perhaps I can impact my little corner of it. They accomplish nothing as long as they remain on legal pads.
Time
We're really good at managing money as a commodity. We track it in any number of ways. We're terrible at managing time. We can always go out and make more money. We cannot make more time. We can exchange money to free up some of our time but that's as far as it goes. The minutes that you're spending to read this, while appreciated, is time that you'll never have again. It's amazing to me how much time we waste on the most inconsequential thins instead of doing and saying what matters while we can.
Case in point: If I've ever told you that I love you, no matter what medium was used, I mean that. I don't say those words often nor do I say them arbitrarily. If I've said those word to you then pay attention. You're more important than you choose to realize.
Politics
Were most of us asleep in history class? Did we have bad teachers? There has to be some reason for the garbage currently going on. If not then it means that most of the population is monumentally stupid.
This is not a Democracy. It was a Democratic Republic. It's now an Oligarchy masquerading as a Democratic Republic and it's been that way for decades. In other words, those with the money are in power.
The Electoral College elects the President and they will only elect the Democratic or Republican nominee. This means that no other candidate will win so they might as well not even be there. The College can and has gone against the popular vote. Your vote can matter if you use it to send a clear message. If you're going to vote for anyone other than the Democratic or Republican nominee, stay home. You'll cause less damage by just sitting your ass in your chair.
Didn't like that? That's too bad. You should have been paying attention. Everything I'm talking about can be easily verified with simple online searches. The Electoral College will put who they want into office. If you want to impact what they do, then vote responsibly. For example: If Bernie Sanders wins the nomination then I'll vote for him. If Hilary Clinton wins then I'll vote for her. I'm voting Democrat because I don't want Donald Trump in office.
That's responsible voting. I'm not a fan of our current political system any more than most intelligent people. Presidential elections have only two options. You don't have to agree with it, however, it's what we have and we need to work within it. It's not likely to change anytime soon.
For those that intend to write Sanders in on their ballot if he doesn't win the nomination: are you fucking stupid? Stay home. You'll do less damage that way. Doing that simply takes away votes needed to keep Trump out of office.
For those threatening to leave the country if your candidate doesn't win: what, in all of creation, makes you think that any country would want you? If you're not willing to be an active part of your own political system why would another system want your ass?
Again, everything I've said is verifiable. Read. Research. Think. These things aren't illegal yet. If the population continues to allow themselves to be led around by their nose they may become illegal before my life ends.
The information is free. The Freedom of Information Act guarantees that. Use the internet for more than Facebook, Instagram and complaining about who is using what bathroom. Your time is limited. Make it count.
